The weather is warming up nicely too, so the outdoors are calling to me. "Come, Paulette, play with us!" they're saying.
That being said, I was looking forward to adding some aquamarine clothing to the wardrobe this month. I don't have a lot of this color in my closet currently, because I usually eschew most shades of blue. Here are my current color-centric options, and I was gifted most of these (except the bright floral on the right) and they're mostly 100% cotton, so that would be easy to work with.
But I also still have a LOT of red and purple fabric leftover. And those ARE my favorite colors, so...
I promised my mom a Circle Cardigan. She was over last week to try it on and pose for a few pictures of another shirt I made her (post coming soon!), and I had the opportunity to see what specific size she'll need for the cardigan. Turns out even though we do have slightly different bust/waist measurements, I can use the exact same size I made for myself. The sizing is VERY generous so I figured I could size down for her too. Yay for having an excellent tester version (that I practically live in now). I really love this sweater. I'll do a proper write up for it soon, too.
So, this month, I'll actually blog!
I also want to get organized. It took me way too long to actually pull all the fabric for that picture above and now it's all in haphazard piles in what is technically El Husbando's office/man cave. It has the best light in the house ALL DAY LONG, so I do a lot of shots in there...and then my stuff just kinda takes up residence in there. I need a better organization method than piles and I've started to use Trello to track my fabric stash, so we'll see how that goes.
I did buy the #sewmystyle pattern for this month, the Closet Case Patterns Kalle shirtdress. It will probably be made from something above. Or in purple. Or red. We'll see. It's too early to really decide. But I've had my eye on it since it was released, so that is definitely on the to-do list.
I should also get serious about finishing my Sewing with a Plan 2018 capsule wardrobe. I have until the end of next month, but I'm kind of apathetic about it right now. A few too many fails has taken the fun out of it. I need to rethink my pattern choices.
Finally, I purchased the Suzy Furrer class Patternmaking + Design: The Pants Sloper on Craftsy during their free streaming weekend. Have you watched this? She is brilliant! I'll (rewatch it a billion times and) put what I've learned to use and make myself a sloper this month to help me figure out how to make pants fit me, so eventually I can make more pants!
What are you doing this month? Are you participating in the multiple Instagram challenges? There's #MarchMeetTheMaker, #MakerMarch2018 (which are NOT the same thing), and Wendy Ward's #MIYMarch18. I'll be dipping in and out, though I am trying to commit the Beerocrats TV account to sticking with the less sewing-specific one.
Spring is coming! Time to get outside!
